MMA Physician Leadership Effectiveness Program

Recruitment is ongoing. Please consider being a part of the next leadership series.

Physicians are finding that further development of their leadership competencies positively impacts their effectiveness in the boardroom and clinic office. More physicians are moving into executive roles and leading healthcare systems as well as managing other doctors and clinical staff. Montana physicians are now expected to step beyond the care of patients to solution building and policy development.

The MMA partnered with FutureSync, International (specialists in leadership development and strategic planning) to create a leadership training program for Montana physicians that also highlights healthcare issues facing Montana. The curriculum content was built by an advisory council of physicians ensuring the relevancy to Montana physicians.

The program consists of seven sessions that focus on developing core leadership skills in a powerful and personal way. These topics include strategic thinking, financial stewardship, relationship management and advanced critical thinking skills. The sessions are designed to engage and unite participants. Physicians will learn practical and action-oriented skills to effectively lead in their practice or healthcare organization.

The schedule for the 2017-2018 program:
-Session 1 - September 22-23, 2017 in Big Sky
-Session 2 - October 20-21, 2017 in Billings
-Session 3 - December 1-2, 2017 in Bozeman
-Session 4 - January 12-13, 2018 in Fairmont Hot Springs
-Session 5 - February 9-10, 2018 in Great Falls
-Session 6 - March 9-10, 2018 in Helena
-Session 7 - April 13-14, 2018 in Whitefish

Locations designated for sessions are subject to change.

BE POISED TO LEAD

This in-depth course is designed to enhance the leadership skills of physicians, so they can play a larger role in their practices and hospitals, and attain the knowledge and opportunities necessary to influence Montana healthcare policy.

IT'S THE RIGHT TIME

In the current healthcare landscape, physicians are facing immense challenges. It’s difficult to increase the quality of care in an atmosphere of ever rising delivery costs. Professional collaboration and advocacy are essential to supporting patients, while heeding the needs of physicians. By helping physicians embrace executive and management positions, affording detailed insight and different perspectives into Montana’s healthcare issues, we’re providing them with the means to spearhead the development of effective solutions.

TRAINING FOR CHANGE

The MMA Physician Leadership Initiative offers leadership development training and fosters
dialogue with colleagues and experts on the challenges and opportunities of practicing
medicine in an evolving environment.

SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED
