The Northwest Research & Education Institute (NWREI) is proud to be the only organization in Montana accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Since 2005, Northwest Research & Education Institute, located in Billings, has sponsored continuing medical education (CME) activities in the greater Rocky Mountain region and beyond.
Being a Montana-based organization allows NWREI to provide more personal service to physicians, medical societies, healthcare organizations, and others in our state and region who utilize our services.

Montana Continuing Medical Education Procedures for CME Accreditation: Overview
As defined by the ACCME, continuing medical
education consists of educational activities which serve to
maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills and professional
performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide
services for patients, the public or the profession.
The University of Washington School of Medicine Office of
Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing
medical education for physicians.
Members of the Montana Medical Association can obtain accreditation
for their continuing medical education activities through
the UW/CME office. Contact with the UW/CME office should be
made at the beginning of planning any activity to assure that
all required steps are taken to meet the ACCME requirements.
To obtain accreditation for your activity the process requires
that you -- Submit an application to the University of Washington
School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education;
organize and deliver your activity in accordance with the
ACCME Essential Areas; and provide documentation that your
activity adhered to this process and the requirements
Requirements:
Montana Medical Association Affiliation - The course chair or one Planning Committee Member must be a full-time regular member of the Montana Medical Association (MMA).
Application Requirements:
The application should be submitted at least 3 months prior
to the course date. A staff member of UW/CME should be involved
with your planning in the early stages of development of your
activity.
The application must be signed by the course chairperson and
the course administrator. An additional signature is required
from a planning committee member (member of the MMA) if the
course chair is not a member of the MMA.
Advertisement or marketing of a course as CME accredited cannot
take place until final approval has been given from UW/CME.
The University of Washington CME office will either approve
or deny accreditation based on the application and provide
written notification to the course administrator.
